Salford Sure Start

Salford Sure Start is a partnership of agencies working with young children and their families throughout Salford, including Salford City Council, Salford Primary Care Trust, Spurgeon's child care and NCH

Previously our work was led by two partnership boards, Salford Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership (EYDCP) and the Salford Sure Start Partnership. Following a city-wide review of services for under fives led by the National Children's Bureau, it was recommended that these two bodies be replaced by a single overarching board with responsibility for all services for children under five in Salford. This new partnership is Salford Sure Start.

Since the late 1990s we have been working with public, private and voluntary organisations to develop the provision of childcare, family support, health services, information and advice, pre-school education, special needs support, training and employment, and much more. We have been helping our young children enjoy the best start in life, and ensuring families have better choice and access to high quality services.

Services involved in this work have included:

  • Salford Sure Start Partnership
  • Salford Early Years Development and Childcare Partnership
  • Local Sure Start Programmes
  • Salford Children's Information Project
  • Salford Early Years Centres
  • Salford Portage Service
  • Salford Early Years, Play and Childcare Service
  • and other family support services

Now we have come together to form Salford Sure Start, to integrate and coordinate services for young children and their families, to build on our success and to make even more of a difference for families in Salford.
